A motorcyclist has died after what is believed to have been a crash with a traffic island in Sidcup.

Police on patrol discovered the injured man on North Cray Road at around 6.30pm yesterday.

Police immediately provided first aid before ambulance and air ambulance crews tended to the man.

Despite the efforts of the emergency services, the rider, believed to be in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man’s family have been informed.

Police do not currently believe that any other vehicles were involved, and it is thought that the rider may have crashed into a traffic island.

This incident is currently being investigated.

Police are asking for anyone with any further information or dash cam footage of the crash to contact them quoting reference number CAD6191/29Jun.

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision in Sidcup.

“At about 18:30hrs on Wednesday, 29 June, officers on patrol came upon an injured motorcycle rider on North Cray Road.

“The officers immediately provided first aid.

“The London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance Service attended but despite their efforts, the rider – a man believed to be aged in his 30s – was pronounced dead at the scene.

“His next of kin have been informed.

“At this early stage, it is not believed that any other vehicles were involved and that the motorcycle may have collided with a traffic island.

“Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit based at Catford are investigating this matter.
