Two people have been arrested following a robbery which saw young victims threatened with knives in Cutty Sark Gardens.

Greenwich officers were conducting “plain clothes robbery patrols” in Cutty Sark Gardens yesterday (June 28).

Patrol officers were informed that two males, who were outside of an arena, had committed a robbery moments before.

While on the way, the officers learnt that the suspects may be armed with knives, as one was allegedly seen during the incident.

Officers say a suspect approached four young victims and threatened to stab them if they didn’t hand over their phones and transfer money to a bank account.

According to police, around £300 was transferred from the victims and mobile phones were stolen.

Police say there was a “short run” to the two suspects in order to catch them – and both males were taken to the ground and detained.

Once handcuffed, both suspects were searched, and five phones were seized.

No knife was seized; however, a silver hammer was recovered hidden behind a bin.

Officers believe the suspects covered the CCTV and used the hammer to rob the victims.

Both males were arrested on suspicion of robberies and taken to custody.
