A SEVENTEEN-YEAR-OLD sixth former had her head shaved to help make the wishes of critically ill children come true.

Cheyanne Martin, of Loughton, who attends Debden Park School, had her hair cut to “show solidarity’ with those youngsters who lose their hair due to medical treatment for cancer.

Inspired by the Channel 4 programme Can We Cure Kids’ Cancer? she set out to raise £500 for the charity Make A Wish, which helps ill children achieve a dream, such as meeting a celebrity, attending an event or going on a trip.

Her hairdresser sister Lauren, 27, cut Chey’s hair and her mum Julie and stepdad Mark Toms are very supportive of her decision.

Her mother Julie said: "Cheyanne wanted to raise £500 but raised £730. We as a family are beyond proud of her."
