A person has been hit by a train on the Bexleyheath line this morning.

Emergency services are currently dealing with the incident. 

Southeastern confirmed the incident at around 7am today (May 29).

Around 250 passengers were evacuated from the train by British Transport Police.

No trains can run on the Bexleyheath line until further notice.

Trains between Lewisham and Barnehurst may be cancelled, delayed, or diverted.

Disruption to services is expected until 11am.

Trains between London Victoria and Barnehurst will now run through Sidcup instead.

Services will not call at any stations between Barnehurst and Blackheath.

A statement provided by Southeastern: “Sadly, a person was hit by a train on the Bexleyheath Line early this morning.

“The emergency services are dealing with the incident, but no trains can run on the Bexleyheath Line until further notice.

“BTP have assisted response teams and safely evacuated the 250 passengers from the stranded train and will continue to assist with the incident.

“The emergency services are dealing with an incident between Blackheath and Barnehurst.

“Trains between Lewisham and Barnehurst may be cancelled, delayed or diverted.

“Disruption is expected until 11am.”
