Dartford Science and Technology College has been ranked as “good” by Ofsted following their latest inspection.

DSTC is a non-selective secondary school for girls between the ages of 11 and 18.

The latest Ofsted visit to the school took place on March 15 and 16.

The report released on May 12 reads: “Dartford Science and Technology College is a welcoming and friendly school.

“There is a strong sense of community, based on excellent relationships between staff, pupils and parents.

“The school is a safe space for pupils to learn and develop as young citizens.

“One parent summed this up by describing it as ‘secure, supportive and encouraging.’”

Ofsted stated that the areas that require improvement in the school included some key stage three students falling behind with their reading skills due to the pandemic.

They also listed that the school needed to improve on the proportion of students choosing the full EBacc subjects.

Mrs Anne Davis, Principal of Dartford Science and Technology College, said: “I am immensely proud of all my staff, students, parents and governors who contributed to the process.

“Everyone here works exceptionally hard so that students who attend DSTC are educated and empowered.

"The governors are delighted to receive this extremely positive and encouraging report from the inspector.

“It speaks volumes for the total dedication and much hard work that everyone at DSTC, teachers, students and support staff, has contributed to the school's success over the last few years and they deserve our huge congratulations on this excellent achievement.”

Mrs Davis said that responses in the school’s The Parent View survey showed that 85 per cent of respondents said they would recommend the school to other parents.

87 per cent of parents who answered strongly agreed/agreed their child was happy here and that their child did well.

The survey said that 100 per cent of staff said they are proud to work there.
