Drivers may find their journeys disrupted due to several planned road closures across Epping Forest for roadworks, including some stretches of more than a mile.

A notice from Essex County Council in this week’s edition of the Guardian details plans to temporarily shut roads in Chigwell, Harlow and Loughton among other areas in the district.

All temporary road closure orders are valid for up to 18 months and the works will only be carried out at times specified on the one.network website or on road signs at or near the relevant locations.

An order is due to take effect on May 26 authorising the phased closure of the following lengths of road for works:

  • A113 High Road/Chigwell Road, Chigwell – from 80m south of its junction with Home Farm Lane to the junction of The Childers, a distance of 3498m. The diversion will be via Chigwell Road, A1009, Woodford Green, A121 High Road, Rectory Lane, Chigwell Lane, High Road and vice versa.
  • Church Lane, Loughton – from its junction with A121 Church Hill to its junction with Clerks Piece, a distance of 679m. The diversion will be via Church Lane, Traps Hill, High Road and vice versa.
  • B194 St Leonards Road, Nazeing – from the junction with Nazeing Road/Middle Street to the junction with Marsh Hill/Long Green, a distance of 2077m. The diversion will be via Middle Street, Long Green and vice versa.

Water connection works are set to close Abbess Road, Little Laver/Beauchamp and Berners Roding for two days from June 1.

The closure is due to be in place from 730m north-east of the junction with Little Laver Road for a distance of 185m in a north-easterly direction.

The diversion will be via Abbess Road, School Lane, Green Hill Road, Anchor Lane, Potash Road, Watery Lane, Little Laver Road and vice versa.

Brady Avenue, Loughton, is due to be shut for one day on June 1 for pole replacement works.

The road is set to be temporarily closed from its junction with Goldingham Avenue to its junction with Coldbrook Lane, a distance of 155m.

Motorists should use Goldingham Avenue, Burney Drive, Colebrook Lane and vice versa during the closure.

The A414 between the southern town boundary and Harlow Mill Roundabout, from its junction with Edinburgh Way for a distance of 795m in both directions, is due to be shut from June 16 from 8pm to 5am for seven nights for resurfacing works.

The alternative route will be via Edinburgh Way, Howard Way, Fifth Avenue, First Avenue, Velizy Avenue, Third Avenue, Second Avenue, A414 between southern town boundary and Harlow Mill Roundabout and vice versa.
