Having a healthy diet is one of the most important aspects of someone’s health that a lot of the time, people can overlook. There are 7 food groups that need to be taken into consideration when planning a balanced diet, these include; carbohydrates, protein, fat, fibre, vitamins, minerals and water. 

 

A healthy diet is necessary for good health, having a healthy diet protects you from diseases and builds up a stronger immune and digestion system. Heart disease, cancer and diabetes ae all at reduced risk when considering what you should be eating.

 

There are severe consequences if you do not follow a healthy diet. Obesity, high blood pressure and cholesterol, heart disease and stroke, diabetes and certain forms of cancers are all possible to contract from an unhealthy diet. An unhealthy diet does not necessarily mean that you are eating too much, it could be that you are not eating enough and especially not the stuff that you need 

 

Here is an example of what a balanced diet may look like in a day;

 

Breakfast – Egg, Toast, Mixed berries and yoghurt

Lunch – Chicken breast salad, water and a piece of fruit

Dinner – Fish, rice and steamed vegetables
