I haven’t always loved cinema in fact in 2017 it gave me anxiety but now I love it. The experience is so... I mean it starts off with watching the trailers, then planning with friends and then the booking of seats and finally the day arrives and you’re tucking into your nachos and watching the countless ads go by and bam...the movie starts!

Just about five months into the year and the box office is already off with a bang. January was quite calm after the storm that was Spiderman: No Way Home premiering films such as Scream. February followed with Uncharted, an action-packed treasure movie starring Tom Holland which I found was quite nice with an intriguing ending; and Death on the Nile, a whodunnit starring Gal Gadot and Kenneth Branagh which I found was interesting. March premiered Matt Reeve’s The Batman starring Robert Pattinson which had fans raving, it was an excellent film and the cinematography was exceptional however Morbius, Marvel’s first introduction to this anti-hero had a more adverse reception. I personally really enjoyed the movie and found the length it be just right, despite others arguing it was rushed and too short. April gave us the long-awaited Fantastic Beasts: Secrets of Dumbledore which I am yet to see and just yesterday, the second Downton Abbey movie debuted which is an early year treat for the lovers of the drama series.

We, as an audience have so much to be excited for, when it comes to anticipated films for the years 2022 and 2023. In just a week’s time, Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness will debut which has Marvel fans all over the world excited and that is not the only Marvel project hitting cinemas this year. Thor: Love and Thunder premiers on July 8th. The final instalment of the Jurassic World series is to end spectacularly with us seeing the return of the original cast of the iconic Jurassic Park in June. Recently, the name and date of Avatar 2 now, Avatar: The Way of the Water was released at CinemaCon and it is set to be on the big screen on 16th December. Now, these movies were just a few out of the many thrilling projects to premier this year and I just can’t wait. Dare I say, cinema is making a comeback?
