A man has been arrested after a 17-year-old teenager was raped in Abbey Wood.

Officers were called to reports of a rape in Wilton Road, SE2, on April 25 at around 1.55am.

A crime scene had been put in place following the attack.

Ionut Gheorge of Manton Road, SE2, will appear at Croydon Magistrates’ Court today (April 29) charged with two counts of rape.

The victim is being supported by specialist officers.

A statement from Met Police on April 27 said: “Police were called to Wilton Road, SE2, at 01.55am on Monday, 25 April, to reports of a rape of a 17-year-old.

“The victim is being supported by specialist officers."

An updated statement from Met Police said: “Ionut Gheorge (13.10.01), of Manton Road, SE2, will appear at Croydon Magistrates’ Court today (Friday, 29 April) charged with two counts of rape.

“He was arrested after police received a report of a rape on Wilton Road, Abbey Wood, on Monday, 25 April.”
