An elderly man has been treated by ambulance crews after a fire at a row of houses in Orpington.

Firefighters were called to the scene in Cowden Road today (April 26) at around 12.35pm.

The Brigade tackled the fire in a row of terraced houses where four of the properties were damaged by the blaze.

Two of the houses were "badly affected" by the fire, according to London Fire Brigade.

A man was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation by London Ambulance Service crews.

The fire was under control by 2.15pm.

Fire crews from Orpington, Sidcup, Bromley, and surrounding fire stations attended the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said: “Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters tackled in a fire row of terraced houses in Cowden Road, Orpington.

“Two houses were badly affected by the blaze. A further two were partly damaged by fire.

“An older man was suffering from smoke inhalation and treated at the scene by London Ambulance Service crews.

“The Brigade was called at 12.35pm and the fire was under control by 2.15pm.

“Fire crews from Orpington, Sidcup, Bromley and surrounding fire stations were at the scene.

“The cause of the fire is under investigation.”
