Vintage fashion has become increasingly popular lately, perhaps because of the nostalgia for older fashion and the individuality and uniqueness these clothing possesses.

More and more people are also realising that buying vintage is much more ethical and sustainable compared to fast fashion. Fast fashion is rapidly produced cheap clothing, causing increasing amounts of pollution and textile waste as consumers fall into a cycle of buying these low quality clothes and then throwing them out as they become ‘unfashionable’. Not only does buying vintage help break this cycle, but you can also help by selling your pre-loved clothing on apps such as vinted or donating to your local charity shops.

So where can you shop vintage? Well there are plenty ways online like shopping on eBay, vinted, Etsy or Depop where you can find plenty of beautiful vintage pieces for low prices if you put the time into searching. If you prefer to shop in store there are still plenty of places such as beyond retro, the vintage kilo sale, car boot sales, charity shops and more if you search in your area.

When asked about vintage fashion Lucshaya Gunasekaran said “I love shopping vintage, it gives me a chance to express myself individually and not give into trends.”

Hopefully if you haven’t considered buying vintage clothing before, you will now in order to contribute to a greener society.
