The Avenue Café on the corner of Station Road and Connaught Avenue, in Chingford, c1910.
In a prominent position just across from the station, the café was the first stopping place for the visitors to the forest in the late 19th century.
After a long spell as the much-admired Chasneys (food shop and restaurant) from the 1930s through to the 1990s, it is now a pub and restaurant.
