A shotgun has been fired at a person inside their home in Mitcham after a brick was tossed through the bedroom window.

Police were called to Hasty Close in Mitcham at around 12.30am on March 31 after reports of gunshots.

It is alleged that three men in a dark Audi had driven into the car park near the block of flats.

A brick was then reportedly thrown into the bedroom window before shots were fired into the address and at the person inside.

The shots missed and there have been no reports of any injuries.

Police say that the Audi then drove away from the scene.

A CCTV image has been released of the vehicle that is suspected to have been involved in the incident.

Those with any information should contact the police quoting reference number CAD 804/31Mar.

Detective Constable Meechok Maingarm of the Metropolitan Police said: “I know there will be many people who may have heard or seen something as the location of the offence is a large residential estate where most flats have windows facing the car park.

“We have had a number of people come forward, but I would urge anyone who has any information, no matter how small, to contact us so we can find the people responsible for this shocking incident.”

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “Officers were called to Hasty Close in Mitcham, shortly after 00:30hrs on Thursday, 31 March to reports of a firearm discharge.

“It was reported that a dark Audi car carrying three men had driven into a car park near a block of flats.

“A brick was then thrown through a bedroom window and a shotgun was fired at the occupant inside the address.

“The vehicle then left the scene.

“Fortunately, the shots missed and there were no injuries.

“Police are releasing images of the vehicle suspected to have been involved in the incident.
