Music is something that has evolved over the years and that has provided entertainment for people all over the world. It has many different genres which help to suit people with different personalities and likes. One of the biggest genres of music is pop music, it originated in the 1950s and 1960s and is still famous nowadays, with music artists trying to create new songs. However, throughout our history, classical music has been around from the earliest of times to now and is still an inspiring and calming source of music for many, including other aspiring musicians.

Although generally, ‘Classical Music’ is a term used for a period of time where music was made, mostly in between the years 1750 and 1830 by classical composers such as Bach, Gluck, Mozart, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky and many more, it is also a term used to describe the genre or type of music made overtime and mainly before the origin of modern music. Classical music can be divided into several periods or eras where music was made, including the Medieval (500–1400) and Renaissance (1400–1600) eras, and the Common practice period, which includes the Baroque (1600–1750), Classical (1750–1820), and Romantic (1810–1910) eras. During the Classical era (when it peaked in recognition and fame), it was one of the main sources of entertainment and helped to showcase the musical talents of geniuses.

Over the years, classical music has evolved based on people and the society, it adapted to all of the centuries because of the composers who changed the music or fixed it according to the different things happening and the different philosophies made during their time. Through their music, composers painted a picture of the society and times in which they lived and expressed their deepest thoughts of their civilisation. They also created classical pieces to convey their emotions on an event in their lives or something that occurred and made them feel a certain way, which they try to express through their music.

Gianlucca Adinolfi explains how ‘classical music has a complex and rick melody that distinguishes the genre’, and suggest how it can help in certain jobs; ‘the Mozart effect shows how surgeons operating while listening to Mozart or Bach can boost their performance up to 11%’.

Classical music often has clean and simple melodies which help to connect with people easily. They also have many benefits, for example they can reduce stress and spark creativity in many younger as well as older people, while improving their mood overall. It also helps musicians gain musical knowledge from pieces of music which were previously made, and many people can play classical pieces with an instrument which serves as a great hobby and a way to pass time while learning an instrument. By studying classical music and how to play pieces on instruments, you can also be at a benefit later in life, especially if you would like to join an orchestra or produce music.

Unlike modern music, classical music generates energy from how deeply the listener can put together and feel the emotions attached with it, which is what makes it so great. Modern music often uses rhythm, rhymes, catchy-ness and beats to appeal to the listener, but one of the best things about classical music is that the meaning behind a piece can be interpreted by the listener and they may feel different emotions while they listen, depending on how they would like to understand the music.

Classical music is a beautiful genre, and it should be listened to for its many beneficial effects including its positive impact on the mood, its aid with concentration as well as relaxation and the fact that it can also help in life in several other ways.
