Throughout the autumn term a selected few from The Harrow school and Notting Hill and Ealing from year 10 work together to research a selected topic. Each student is partnered with someone from the other school and between them choose a subtopic for the overall topic this year ‘what is life’.

“It is an eye opening experience and was fun to work with different people.” said Nirupama a student at Notting Hill and Ealing High School.

For the theme this year ‘What is life’ allowed the students to see different points of views through their subtopics. These subtopics contained Physics, art, architecture and many more. It allowed you to make this topic more personal towards each pair of students

For the benefits of the students that take part they develop more skills evolving essay writing, and time management. At the end of the scholars program between each pair of students they will have produced an 1,000 essay and presented a presentation on their subtopic in front of the head teachers and senior staff of both schools.

As well as this students benefit from learning more about public speaking and different techniques to have a larger impact on audiences. It also helps with the ability of working with a team, especially with people that you have never met before.

Another student taking part called ariana said “it was great to get to share what we’d been working on for so long and work with another school” this proves that the effect of this project has helped the students and made it a fun enjoyable experience for them.
