A total of 26 per cent of schools in Lewisham achieved the highest grade in Ofsted inspections.

New research also reveals that no schools in the borough were scored as being inadequate by Ofsted.

In nearby Greenwich, 24 per cent of schools achieved the highest Ofsted grade while 2 per cent were considered inadequate.

The data was compiled by education firm Promethean.

Figures are based on Ofsted’s latest reports.

85 schools in the borough of Lewisham were graded by Ofsted.

In Greenwich, Ofsted graded 87.

The City of London, Kensington and Chelsea and Richmond upon Thames were the London boroughs with the highest rated schools.

In the City of London, 100 per cent of schools were considered outstanding.

However there is just one relevant school within the City of London.

Because Ofsted graded the school as being outstanding, the entire borough achieved a 100 per cent grade.

In Kensington and Chelsea, 65 per cent of the 40 schools inspected were rated as outstanding.

Out of 60 schools in Richmond upon Thames, 29 were graded outstanding.

This means 49 per cent of schools in the borough received the highest Ofsted rating.

The lowest rated schools were in Barking and Dagenham.

Ofsted graded 59 schools in the borough.

12 per cent achieved the highest rating.

80 per cent were graded “good” and 8 per cent “required improvement”.

No schools were considered inadequate.

Data also revealed the London boroughs where schools are improving most.

Out of the 33 London boroughs, Greenwich placed 31st and Lewisham 32nd.

This means they are the lowest two London boroughs for school improvement behind Westminster, which placed 33rd.
