A new operating theatre will open at Orpington Hospital this spring allowing for several hundred more orthopaedic procedures each year.
Currently in construction, the state-of-the-art facility will reduce waiting times for people in need of knee and hip surgery, as well as operations.
A single-story high, the new theatre will feature specialist equipment.
Three patient recovery bays and staff changing facilities will also be included.

The theatre’s floorplan is designed to keep outside noise at a minimum which will reduce disturbance and help patient recovery.
The operating theatre will be a modular construction as this is more sustainable.
All steel used has at least 25 per cent recycled content and 90 per cent of waste used in the built was recycled.
The unit was also built off-site and fitted together at the hospital.
The new operating theatre will be available to patients from Spring 2022.
