A man from Thamesmead has been arrested after allegedly being caught with drugs and a wad of cash.

Officers were carrying out weapon sweeps in Birchmere Park on February 23 when they saw a man acting suspicious by a lake.

Officers say the man made off on foot, but they were able to catch him and carry out a search.

Officers allegedly found a quantity of drugs and wad of cash belonging to the suspect.

The man, 28, was then arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply.

Thamesmead and Belvedere police took the suspect to a south London police station where the investigation continues.

 

Thamesmead and Belvedere police said: “On the 23rd of February officers from Thamesmead and Belvedere SNT arrested a 28 year old male in Thamesmead for possession with intent to supply.

“Officers were carrying out weapon sweeps in Birchmere Park when they encountered a make acting suspiciously near the lake.

“The male quickly made off on foot, but officers were able to catch him.

“He was searched under S23 Misue of Drugs where a quantity of controlled substance and large quantities of cash were found on him.

“He was swiftly arrested and taken back to a south London police station where the investigation continues.”
