Creepy and kooky. Mysterious and spooky. The lights dim in the Wimbledon Theatre as everyone’s favourite ooky family returns with a musical and comedic show - it's the Addams Family!

Laughter and applause filled the theatre with a performance that brought smiles to faces of young and old. The play follows the famous film, the Addams Family, but this time Wednesday Addams (played by Kingsley Morton) has grown up and fallen in love... with a sweet boy from a ‘normal’ family. The question is, can her father keep this secret from his beloved wife? And get through a whole family dinner with this ‘normal’ family, without being... abnormal?! The play focuses on the household drama that goes on whilst this secret is being held, in a household that values complete honesty, as well as the interactions between the two very different families through a great deal of humour that appeals to everyone watching. The connections between the members of the Addams household is one that the whole audience can relate to, especially with its spooky twists that you can’t help but giggle at!

This play was enough to make anyone cry with laughter and the audience were all drawn in by the relatability of all the scenes - spooky or not, a family is a family, and certainly everyone could feel and relate to those classic moments which we have all experienced so often at home. The spooktacular performance is perfect for all ages, and great to watch as a family. Sitting together in the audience will certainly trigger a lot of nudges between family members as you relate to your own relationships through these accurate impressions and quirky attitudes! This heart-warming show will bring you all together for an exciting evening out as a family, so be sure to tag along everyone - mums, dads, aunts, uncles and grandparents! I promise you, you won’t regret it.

You may want to buy extra popcorn - half of it will be on the floor from snorting with laughter. Not only with the jokes, but with the mere comedy of the characters played by these outstanding performers. It would be difficult not to laugh, but even more difficult not to smile. The characterisations were absolutely hilarious and you can’t help but shed tears as you watch and empathise with all the members in this spooky family. A pinch of originality and creepiness is sprinkled onto all of the jokes throughout this epic performance, making it completely impossible to take your eyes off the stage, in fear of missing something that will literally boggle your brain as you can’t stop shaking with laughter. Grab a couple more pairs of socks - they will simply be blown off your feet!

Sharon Davis, a member of the audience, said, “I thought the show was excellent, nobody let it down - the singing, dancing, all the background and the orchestra, everything was fantastic. Uncle Fester was out of this world!” All I can say is, truer words were never spoken. The lights captivated us in the tense moments, the costumes brought the characters to life. The sets were brilliantly detailed, and the beautiful singing played a tune on our heartstrings. Every single performer gave it their all and were completely into it and enjoying it with the audience, which truly brought everyone under the roof of the Wimbledon Theatre in sync with the beats of our hearts.

This is definitely a play that you don’t want to miss. A magnificent musical, guaranteed to keep you entertained the whole way through, with no regrets. Click your fingers along to the tune, grab that popcorn and those extra socks, and hop on a ride to the theatre to witness this incredible performance of the Addams Family; one of a kind, to blow your mind.
