Case rates of Covid are falling across the UK as Boris Johnson is expected to unveil his plan for living with coronavirus today.

It is time for the UK to shift the balance away from “state mandation”, the Prime Minister said as he prepares to end the legal requirement for self-isolation.

Boris Johnson is expected to repeal all pandemic regulations that restrict public freedoms in England when he lays out his vision for the future.

The latest Covid-19 case rates have been released for local areas in the UK and infections are mostly falling in areas.

The figures, for the seven days to February 11, are based on the number of people who have tested positive for Covid-19 in a lab-reported test, or positive rapid lateral flow tests that do not have a negative confirmatory lab-based polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test within 72 hours

The rate is expressed as the number of new cases per 100,000 people.

Data for the most recent four days (February 12-15) has been excluded as it is incomplete and does not reflect the true number of cases.

Of the 377 local areas in the UK, 14 (4%) have seen a week-on-week rise in rates and 363 (96%) have seen a fall.

The list has been calculated by the PA news agency using data published on February 15 on the Government’s coronavirus dashboard.

Here is the the list for south east London areas:

Bexley

The cases in Bexley have decreased from 640.2 (1,596 cases) to 444.0 (1,107 cases).

Bromley

The case rate in Bromley has fallen from 838.5 (2,790 cases) to 594.7 (1,979 cases).

Dartford

The cases in Dartford have fallen from 724.2 (826 cases) to 491.9 (561 cases).

Greenwich

Greenwich has seen the case rate decrease from 673.6 (1,947 cases) to 483.7 (1,398 cases).

Lewisham

The cases in Lewisham have decreased from 687.2 (2,098 cases) to 515.2 (1,573 cases).

Southwark

Southwark’s rates have fallen from 714.3 (2,286 cases) to 579.7 (1,855 cases).

The Shetland Islands in Scotland continues to have the highest rate in the UK, with 458 cases in the seven days to February 11 – the equivalent of 2,002.6 per 100,000 people.

Education unions are warning of chaos in schools unless the Government rows back from the “reckless” decision to scrap all remaining Covid safety rules in England.

Unison, Unite and the GMB, which represent school support staff, are urging the Prime Minister to keep in place free testing and the requirement to self-isolate.

The three unions warned that the failure to provide clear, detailed guidance risks a “super spreader free-for-all” in schools and other workplaces.

If remaining safety rules are axed, schools will be left in an “impossible situation”, the unions added.
