An investigation has been launched after a man was stabbed to death in Burnt Oak.

Emergency services were called to reports of a stabbing in Watling Avenue on Friday, February 18, around 5pm.

A man in his 20s was found with stab wounds.

Despite the best efforts of paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives are awaiting formal identification and confirmation that his family have been informed. They will be supported by specialist officers.

A crime scene remains in place and no arrests have been made at this early stage.

Responding to the incident, a spokesperson for Barnet Council said: "We completely condemn this senseless act of violence on our streets. This awful attack is a devastating blow to the victim’s family, friends, and the community we all live in.

"The council is working with the police to help keep the community safe and to bring whoever is responsible for this despicable incident to justice.

"We would encourage any witnesses to volunteer information to help the police with their investigation."
