A man has been arrested after he allegedly stole bottles of spirits worth more than £160 from the Co-op store in Sidcup.

The incident reportedly took place on Christmas Eve last year (December 24) between 9.45pm and 10pm at the Westwood Lane store.

The man allegedly stole six to eight bottles worth £166.50.

Officers say a member of staff confronted the man and managed to get of the bottles back.

The man then allegedly pushed a member of staff to then make an escape with the remaining bottles, according to police.

He has been wanted by officers for the offence since December 2021.

He is described as a “well known and prolific shoplifter” by police and was also wanted for recall to prison.

The man was later charged and remanded to appear at Bexley Magistrates’ Court.
