With its continual growth online, Glossier has opened a new shop in Covent Garden which allows customers to buy some of their best selling products. After opening a pop-up shop in Covent Garden back in 2019, this has now become their first UK home!

In 2019, the pandemic halted any hopes of a shop opening in the UK and Glossier announced they were shutting up shop for good. In early December, Glossier revealed they were finally opening their first flagship store in London and it is their third retail shop to open worldwide along with their Seattle and New York stores. To top it all off, the new store is located in the oldest building in Covent Garden which has been designed in pink from top to bottom!

When I visited the shop, I was immediately greeted by friendly staff and admired the chic interior design. When you walk in, there are a variety of products to try such as lip balms, face serums, makeup remover, eyebrow pencils, liquid eyeliners and many more.  In line with Covid-19 regulations, customers are able to test products and these are then sanitized by staff. Whilst in the shop I spoke to another customer to get their thoughts on the new shop and this was their response.

‘I like how you are able to test all their products safely and staff are very attentive. After visiting the shop, I am definitely going to buy some of their products and I would recommend to anyone who loves their skincare and makeup!’

With their online community growing everyday and the help of a new shop, Glossier’s popularity continues to rise and they have received an estimated value of $1.8 million recorded last year! The pop-up shop was described as ‘the most successful temporary store of all time’ and its new location focuses on an immersive experience for customers. When asked about the opening of their Covent Garden shop, Glossier’s Senior Vice President Kristy Maynes said ‘they come to immerse themselves in our brand, explore our curated portfolio of products and connect with others’. Ever since its growing demand in the UK, it has been ‘the second largest market outside the US and building a permanent store would expand our physical presence.’ explained Maynes. Glossier have shared its plans to expand their store count which will hopefully include more international destinations.
