A man has been fined for going into Waitrose in Orpington when he was banned from doing so.

David Purnell was prohibited from going into the Waitrose store in Green Street in a criminal behaviour order made by Croydon Magistrates’ Court on November 12, 2020.

However, the 38-year-old entered the store on October 27, 2021 and indicated a plea of guilty during a hearing at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on January 28, 2022.

He was ordered to pay £252 for the offence – including a £133 fine, £34 surcharge to fund victim services and £85 in costs to the CPS.

Purnell, of Oakfield Road in Penge, must pay £10 per week starting from February 25.
