A woman has been fined more than £800 for attending a gathering in Bexley while the country was in strict lockdown.

Abigail Smith, 20, participated in a gathering at Bexley Cricket Club where two or more people were in attendance “without reasonable excuse”, on January 19, 2021.

London was in Tier 4 at the time, which saw people only allowed to leave home for essential purposes, such as to buy food and medical supplies, or for daily exercise.

Smith, of Sherwood Park Avenue, was inside a Mercedes car with more than two people.

She was given a £826 fine for the offence during a single justice procedure hearing at Westminster Magistrates Court on January 26, 2022.

This includes a fine of £660, £66 to fund victim services and costs of £100 which must be paid by February 23.
