Books are loved across the world whatever the genre is: fiction, non-fiction, or autobiographies.  It’s a form of escapism from life’s reality.

In some countries, books are withheld as an act of oppression. They get burnt or censored and reading is stopped to prevent an individual from being knowledgeable as it is seen as dangerous and can change the way a person can think.

Books are a form of storytelling that reaches more people than oral storytelling, as they are in print. Most important books have been recorded by people who have heard these been told through the generations and have maybe tried to interpret them in their own words.

Stories are told every second of every day. We all tell stories when we discuss what is going on in our everyday lives.

How many of us have tried to glance at the person who is reading next to us on public transport or wherever to see what they are reading?

There are many ways of accessing novels such as apps, libraries, and kindles yet in some places in the world, books are not accessible. Books should be available, in all languages, to all-seeing as everyone should be able to experience the wonder of escaping into another world.

Books can be influential and can resonate with a person especially if there are characters that are representative or demonstrative of their situations. This helps someone identify with the characters in the book. This can help individuals especially if there is a lack of diversity in other areas.

Some people can develop into avid book readers, yet some could find it hard to distinguish distinct lines between their imaginary world and reality. One could also become extremely attached to characters and could adapt certain aspects of their personality to match the protagonists.

Overall, books are vital in society as much can be learned from them. They are a way to destress and enter another realm different from our own.

Happy reading everyone.
