A man has been detained under the Mental Health act following a knife disturbance in Erith.
Police were called this afternoon (January 26) at around 12.50pm to reports of a man with a knife causing a disturbance on Erith High Street.
Officers attended the scene and challenged the man.
Verbal commands were issued before a taser was discharged, according to the police.
He was detained under the Mental Health Act and is now receiving “appropriate” support.
There were no reports of any injuries following the incident.
A Met Police spokesperson said: “At 12:48hrs on Wednesday, 26 January police were called to reports of a man with a knife causing a disturbance in the High Street, Erith.
“Officers attended and challenged the man.
“Verbal commands were issued initially before a Taser was discharged.
“He was detained under the Mental Health Act and is now receiving appropriate support.
“There were no reports of any injuries as a result of the incident.”
