A road in Welling will remain closed due to emergency pipe repairs.

The emergency works started on Tuesday, January 18 at Upper Wickham Lane which caused the road to close and buses to divert.

The works, carried out by Thames Water, is expected to be completed by “the end of this week."

The water supply company confirmed the damaged section of the pipe has been replaced.

Thames Water also confirmed their next step will be to "fill in the hole" they had to dig and resurface the road.

The 96 bus towards Woolwich is being diverted from Okehampton Crescent and Brampton Road.

Buses towards Thomas Street will miss the stops from Park View Road to Upper Wickham Lane.

Buses towards Darent Valley Hospital will also miss stops from Upper Wickham Lane to Crook Log Leisure centre, according to Transport for London’s website.

A spokesperson for Thames Water said: “We’re sorry for any disruption caused by our emergency pipe repairs.

“The damaged section of pipe has been cut out and replaced and our next step is to fill in the hole we had to dig and resurface the road.

“We expect to be finished by the end of this week.”
