Erith Riverside Shopping Centre has been sold to a property investor and developer, Bexley Council confirmed.

The shopping centre, comprising over 165,000 sq ft of retail space and around 800 parking spaces, was put on the market last year by Savills with an £18m price tag.

The leasehold has been purchased by BYM Capital, which purchased the former headquarters of British Sky Broadcasting (BSkyB) in 2018 for £98m, transforming the offices into flats.

Lucinda Lee-Bapty, COO of BYM Capital, said: “We are delighted to have joined the community here in Erith.

“We hope to make further investment in the centre and will be initiating discussions with our tenants as well as local businesses and residents in the coming weeks and months to inform this.”

Cllr Teresa O’Neill OBE joined Cabinet Member for Growth, Cllr Cafer Munur at a meeting with the new owners in November.

Bexley Council said all parties “agreed on the importance of working closely with local businesses and the community.”

Current tenants of the shopping centre include Wilko, Matalan, Iceland and Greggs.
