The cause of a fire which broke out at a house in Abbey Wood on Tuesday is being investigated by the Met Police as well as London Fire Brigade.

Part of the first floor, ground floor and part of the loft space of the mid-terraced house in Bendmore Avenue were damaged by the blaze.

Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters from Plumstead, Erith and East Greenwich stations were called to the scene at around 3.05pm.

The fire was under control by 5.20pm.

A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said: "Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a fire at a house in Bendmore Avenue, Abbey Wood.

"Part of the first floor, part of the ground floor and part of the loft space of the mid-terraced house were damaged by fire.

"There were no reports of any injuries.

"The Brigade was called at 1504 and the fire was under control by 1720.

"Fire crews from Plumstead, Erith and East Greenwich stations were at the scene.

"The cause of the fire is under investigation by London Fire Brigade and the Metropolitan Police."

The Met Police has been asked for more information.
