A man from Lewisham was fined more than £200 after being caught driving while over the legal alcohol limit.

Jimmy Vassel, 57, of Stoneycroft Close, was stopped driving his blue Jaguar along Lewisham High Street on August 27 last year.

A breathalyser test recorded 89 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 80.

He initially pleaded not guilty, before changing his plea to guilty.

He was given a £231 fine for the offence during a hearing at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on December 10 after being found guilty.

This includes an initial £112 fine, £34 to fund victim services and costs of £85 which was ordered to be paid by January 7.

He was also disqualified for holding or obtaining a driving licence for 22 months.
