However, governments have been making more of an effort to combat these mental health issues and shine a light on the underlying conditions a child may have. More effort by teachers and caregivers have been evident in order to support a child’s cognitive well-being, and more support is continuing to be delivered, with the British Secretary of State for Health and Social Care saying “In England, we set up 24/7 crisis hotlines that have received 3 million calls since the start of the pandemic, and we used mental health apps and virtual consultations to provide extra pathways for care” during the Global Mental Health Summit 2021.

Interview of local student Esaam (12)
How has the Lockdown affected you mentally?
Essam: The corona virus has caused me to isolate for a long period of time making me feel bored and disappointed as I could not meet up with them nor could I play with them due to the circumstances. I felt fairly anxious due to the changing situation in my local area as a result of the pandemic

Would you say support for young people has increased?

Teachers have given the best advice to help us and there have been many online videos or websites to fully aid them if this was not enough.
