It’s been 120 years today on the 5th December 2021 since Walt Disney was born in Tripp Avenue, Chicago. Even though he died long ago his work, mark and memory are still alive. Like how he still holds the record for Academy awards won by a singular person. Also, the most Oscars won in a singular year. His journey to Stardom began at a young age when he took up drawing near the age of 5 within a Missouri farm in Marceline. When commissioned to draw a horse of a retired neighbour (“Doc” Sherwood) and paid for the image. Later down the line he made the Cel animation technique popular. When he made an animation business with Fred Harman after being laid off by Pesmen-Rubin Commercial Art Studio. Theses two sold their “Newman’s Laugh-O-Grams” to the Newman Theatre. The technique they used was unique from typical cutout animation techniques they used the Cel animation technique instead that gave a better cutout. After its success the Laugh-o- gram studios were established and this led to alce wonderland and other productions. To add he co-founded the Disney brother’s studio and the famous mickey mouse character. With Iwerks he worked on this world widely recognized character inspired by Disney’s pet mouse which he had at the Laugh-O-Gram studios. Walt’s wife chose the name “Mickey Mouse “earlier he had wanted to call the mouse “Mortimer Mouse”. That would’ve sounded weird on the beloved show “Mickey Mouse’s Clubhouse” would not want to go there. He won a star for his creation in 1978 honouring his motion pictures contribution.
