Locals of Carshalton Beeches gather to celebrate Yulefest.

On the 3rd of December, hundreds of Carshalton residents gathered on Banstead road to celebrate the tradition of Yulefest. Brimming with atmosphere and liveliness, Yulefest is a way for the local community to come together for fun while also bringing new patronage and revenue to small businesses and charities. Some attendants of the festival described the event as 'beautiful' and 'a great way to help small local-led businesses.'

To ensure the safety of the event, Banstead Road was closed to traffic. It offered a variety of activities, including food (including staples of Christmas like roasted chestnuts and mulled wine), rides, children's activities, stalls, and late openings of many shops. Lights on a Christmas tree and the start of Christmas lights enhanced the festive atmosphere.

Various local groups performed, ensuring that everyone found something to enjoy. Every year, a group of pupils from a nearby school Stanley Park come together to perform a selection of festive songs, giving parents a chance to see their kids in action.

The now annual festivities of Carshalton Beeches Baptist Church, which began in 2014, remain a constant reminder of how powerful and pervasive the Christmas spirit can be, especially when it benefits the local community and charities.

As a result, this staple of the local community serves to build community spirit by celebrating local businesses and uplifting the surrounding area. Proceeds from the event were donated to several charity organizations.
