Education holds an important place in one’s life. At our age, the performance of students in school plays an important part, in deciding the next stage of their education. The biggest concern to a parent is the future of their child. In order to maintain their reputation, educational institutes select only the brightest and finest students, due to this parents put a lot of pressure and raise the bar too high for their children, to live up to the standards. Parents these days are pretty concerned about how their child would be perceived by the world which leads to parental pressure.

Apart from academics, children are also pressurised by rising expectations in extra curricular activities such as music, sports etc. As a result, without paying enough attention to development of a student, parents keep on pushing the boundaries that results in psychological and physical problems like: anxiety, stress, suicides and disappointments. Students who have pressure as well as  academic stress are unable to perform in school. This means that stress restricts students to perform at their best abilities. The mental health of students, especially in regards to academic stress  has a significant impact, which results in high rates of  suicidal cases in students.

A few ways a student can overcome and control academic stress, are that they should always have something to look forward to each day. Students should also break their workload down into smaller (more manageable) chunks. It’s not necessary that everyday should have a high work output. These strategies would help tackle academic stress more efficiently ; regular exercising or playing sports reduces effect of depression and anxiety. Students should also recognise their academic capabilities and what is expected from them. Along with this,  they should make a clear schedule as it would help them manage their activities and academics in a more systematic way. And lastly, it’s key students should look for something positive in each day, even if some days you have to look a little harder.
