IS IT SAFE FOR MY CHILDREN TO GO TRICK OR TREATING WHILST COVID-19 STILL EXISTS? Well, this question has been in many parents mind’s as they debate whether or not to allow their children to go trick or treating or not.

Halloween is a fun, joyful celebration which has been a tradition for decades. People believed that the souls of the dead returned to their homes on that day and therefore everyone dressed up in costumes to scare off the spirits. They also lit bonfires. This was an exciting time for people as they enjoyed dressing up and since then has become a global celebration.

Amongst many other festivals, Halloween has also been disturbed due to the pandemic. Hundreds and thousands of families stayed indoors last year and missed out on halloween. This played a role in children's mental health deteriorating as they were stuck inside and weren’t able to joke around and have fun. Therefore some families are going to participate this year whilst some choose to stay inside as they believe that it’s still not safe.

“I feel that it’s okay for my children to go trick or treating because firstly they are out in the open which as we know reduces chances of catching covid. As long as they are keeping their distance from people whose doors they are knocking. I feel like this will be a part of our lives now and we have to learn to live with it. We will just need to take extra precautions if we have to. I also do not have a problem with children coming to my door for sweets as long as they keep a little distance from me ”-Harpreet Hakemzadeh
