Libraries have always been a centre for education and learning, but Battersea Park Library aims to be a centre for the community and is running many new schemes for locals to get involved in.

In a post-COVID world, many people have changed their routines, wanting to spend more time with other people in environments other than their homes, and the local library is changing to reflect that. Activities now include the “Knit and Natter” group which runs every Monday from 5.00-6.45pm and is for those who enjoy crocheting, knitting or cross-stitching; the “Saturday Craft” in the Children’s Section which runs weekly from 11.00am-2.00pm; and the “Study Support Club” which happens every Tuesday from 3.30-5pm.

“Knit and Natter” member Jo Mead says that “The group has given me so many helpful tips to improve my knitting, and it is always so nice to talk and laugh while doing it. I’ve made some wonderful new friends.”

These new activities are all running in conjunction with traditional story times, reading groups, and more, as the library encourages more people to join in and connect with others. They are open to all members of the library, and if you live locally it is easy to join by asking when you visit the library. If you do not live locally, there are many other libraries that also run a plethora of events.

For more information, visit the Battersea Park Library or their website, and get involved with one of their new activities to create links with the community and enjoy yourself.
