Guru Nanak Dev Ji was the first Guru in Sikhism and started the religion. He based his philosophies on three principles: vand ke shakna (sharing and caring), kirat karna (working hard) and naam japna (meditating on God). As well as this, Guru Nanak Dev Ji spread the message of “IK’, meaning one: one God and oneness within humanity.

On the 19th November 2021, Sikhs came together from across the world to celebrate the birth of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. A volunteer at the Gurdwara said: “After the eventful year we all had before, it was amazing to see the community come together and listen to hymns, do seva and be one with God.” Fireworks and candles were also lit to commemorate this special day.
