This Is Local London: The Walkie Talkie in the fleshThe Walkie Talkie in the flesh You can't miss it. Sky Garden is London's highest public garden sitting at 520ft(160m) tall, dwarfing all builidings and streets around it. Also famously known to many as the 'Walkie Talkie' this marvel of engineering and architecture surprisingly has a garden at its peak which is less known by the public. During the half term break, I made a trip visiting this place, and I had some thoughts.

Entrance is free and you can stay for up to an hour so there is no reason why you should miss out on this experience. The location is 20 Fenchurch St. You can easily find the entrance at the base of the tower where there is security and sometimes a queue. Entry with a ticket is very painless and fast process. You are then whisked up to the 38th floor via a lift and once you exit, greeted by twenty-foot high glass panes spanning the entire length of the floor. The whole space is vast, open plan and very modern. Simply, it is breathtaking. This Is Local London: A small part of the great viewA small part of the great view

However it becomes apparent quite quickly it is more of a Sky Bar instead of a Sky Garden. Most of the lower level is devoted to a bar with drinks and snakcs of all sorts and a seating area. The main issue was the price. For example a plain croissant is £2.25 and if you want a refreshing glass of water, that sets you back £3. I asked a few people in the area how they felt about the pricing and one person had said "These prices are outrageous, thankfully we brought our own food" and another happily sipping their drink said "Well they have to make money somehow don't they?". It then makes sense how entry can be made completely free.

Only in some areas you find foliage and all sorts of plants but are still beautiful nonetheless. If only the place had more vegetation, perhaps it could make the place feel even more special and like a garden. It is still an ideal place for photography, an hour just looking around at the scenery went by so quickly.

My Verdict - Overall Sky Garden is one of a kind, and certainly stands out from the usual busy atmosphere of London. Although there is definitely a lack of vegetation, the views are stunning. If you are looking for a great family day out, look no further. Best of all,you don't need to spend a single penny! There is no excuse not to visit the Walkie Talkie Sky Garden.
