A driver has died after suffering a serious head injury in a crash in Sawbridgeworth.

A silver Peugeot 207 was travelling east on Redricks Lane when it left the road and came to rest in a ditch at around 7.20pm on Saturday, October 16.

The driver, a man in his 30s, suffered a serious head injury and was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital for treatment.

Hertfordshire Constabulary says he died from his injuries on Tuesday, October 19.

The force is appealing for witnesses and information over the incident.

Detective Constable Neil Crosier, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “My thoughts are with the man’s family and friends at this very difficult time.

“Our enquiries are continuing to establish the circumstances around what happened. As part of this, we are appealing for anyone who was travelling in the area around the time and may have seen the vehicle, or captured dashcam footage of it prior to the incident, to please contact us.”
