Cattle grid cleaning is among the reasons why several roads across Epping Forest are set to be temporarily closed next month.

A notice from Essex County Council in this week’s edition of the Guardian details the extent of the closures and other restrictions that may be implemented while the works are carried out.

All temporary closure orders are valid for 18 months, or until the works have been completed, and the dates when they are carried out may vary.

A section of Sheering Road, Sheering, is due to be closed for one day on November 7 for pole testing works.

This road is due to be shut from its junction with Sheering Lower Road for a distance of approximately 580m in a north-easterly direction.

New water connection works are set to close a section of Hatfield Heath Road, Sheering, for three days from November 8.

The road is due to be shut from a point 825m south-east then north-east of its junction with Sheering Lower Road for a distance of approximately 90m in a north-easterly direction.

A five-day closure of Pick Hill, Waltham Abbey, is due to begin on the same day for new power connection works.

This is due to apply from a point approximately 510m west then north-west of its junction with Horseshoe Hill for a distance of approximately 30m in a north-westerly direction.

Overhead structure works are due to close part of Fingrith Hall Lane, High Ongar, on November 8 for one day.

The road is due to be shut from its junction with Chelmsford Road for a distance of approximately 135m in a south-easterly direction.

Cattle grind cleansing works are set to close part of Forest Side, Waltham Abbey, from 9pm to 5am for two nights from November 10.

The closure is due to apply from the junction with Woodridden Hill for a distance of approximately 100m in a southerly direction.

Another two-night closure between the same hours, also starting on November 10 and for the same reason is due to take place in Rangers Road, Buckhurst Hill.

The road is due to be shut from its junction with Epping New Road for a distance of approximately 685m in a south-westerly direction.

A section of Cross Roads, Waltham Abbey, is due to be shut for one night from 9pm to 5am on November 11, again for cattle grid cleaning.

The road is set to be closed to vehicles from its junction with Robin Hood Roundabout to its junction with Fairmead Road, a distance of approximately 215m.

Wake Road, Waltham Abbey, is also set to be closed for this reason for two nights from the same date.

This closure is due to be in place from its junction with Woodridden Hill for a distance of approximately 100m in a south-westerly direction.
