Two men tried to rob a teenager while armed with "some sort of pistol" in Borehamwood.

Police have appealed for witnesses after the attempted robbery in an alleyway off Clifton Way, leading to Gateshead Road, between 7.30pm and 8pm on Tuesday, September 21.

The 17-year-old victim was walking through when two males in balaclavas pushed him against a fence and demanded he hand over his belongings.

A police spokesperson said one of them had a weapon described as "some sort of pistol".

The victim managed to run off and nothing was taken.

The suspects are described as follows:

  • A black male, wearing a black hoody, black tracksuit bottoms, black Nike trainers, gloves and a balaclava.
  • A black male, wearing a blue tracksuit, a black baseball cap, Nike trainers and a distinctive face mask.

Detective constable Helen Osborne, from the Hertsmere local crime unit, said: “Thankfully the victim was not hurt during the incident and nothing was stolen, but this was a frightening ordeal for him.

“Our enquiries are continuing at this time and as part of this we would like to hear from anyone who may have seen what happened, or who may have seen two males in the area matching the descriptions given.

"Any information at all could greatly assist our enquiries, so if you can help, please get in touch.”
