An Epping and Harlow hospice has welcomed a new Wellbeing Hub and extra services which will provide support for people with life-limiting illnesses.

St Clare Hospice launched its new service called ‘The Living Well programme’- a six-week programme which welcomed its first attendees today.

The launch of the new service ties in with Hospice Care Week, a national awareness week running 4-8 October 2021.

The programme and Wellbeing Hub will provide patients with education tools, care and support.

Education sessions from the programme include “Advanced Care Planning” and “Preparing for your next consultation.”

Trevor Farrington, Nurse Consultant at St Clare Hospice said: “Often hospices are seen as a place to die, but hospices are so much more than that.

“Our new Wellbeing Hub is here to help people carry on living – enabling them to stay in control of their care and keep doing the things in their life that are important to them,”

Maintaining normality for as long as possible, alongside preparing for death, were found to be the most important priorities for individuals receiving palliative care in a recent study.

The Hospice claims the new Wellbeing Hub supports these priorities with ‘their sensitive and newly dynamic approach to care.’
