Epping Forest Heritage Trust (EFHT) hosted a walk and dressed up as characters who played a part in the Forest’s history.
The annual ‘Big Walk’ hosted by the EFHT was cancelled this year- the Trust came up with a shorter walk which patients took part in on Sunday (26 September).
They started at Whitehall Road Bridge and followed the River Ching towards Rangers Road before pausing at Queen Elizabeth's Hunting Lodge at 11:30am- where they met some of the characters played by Epping Forest Heritage supporters.
Woodcutter, Queen Elizabeth I, Dick Turpin and Mrs Watkins all shared their stories and roles in the forest.
Verderer Michael Chapman was also present at the celebration and delivered a speech about the role of Verderers in looking after the Forest.
Light refreshments were offered before the walkers continuing their journey and finished the celebration walk at the starting point.
Judy Adams, Chair of the Epping Forest Heritage Trust, remarked the celebration event and thanked the volunteers, officers, verderers, walkers and supporters to make this day a memorable one.
Special thanks were also given to the City of London Corporation for supporting this programme.
