Several roads across Epping Forest are set to be temporarily closed for roadworks in October, including one lasting three weeks.

A notice from Essex County Council in this week’s edition of the Guardian details the extent of the closures and other restrictions that may be in place while the works are carried out.

All temporary closure orders last for 18 months and the dates when they are carried out can vary. These will be shown on signs at or near the relevant location and/or on the one.network website.

Part of Hastingwood Road, Hastingwood, is due to be closed to vehicles for four days from October 16 for power works.

The road will be shut from its junction with Mill Street for a distance of approximately 190m in a south-westerly direction.

Motorists are advised to use Mill Street, Harlow Common, London Road, A414, Hastingwood Roundabout, Canes Lane, Hastingwood Road and vice versa instead.

A section of Avey Lane, Waltham Abbey, is due to be shut for one day on October 18 for water works.

The closure is due to be in place from its junction with Pynest Green Lane to its other junction with Pynest Green Lane, a distance of approximately 70m.

An alternative route will be available via Avey Lane, Sewardstone Road, Sewardstone Road Roundabout, Dowding Way, Volunteer Roundabout, Honey Lane, Woodridden Hill, Wake Arms Roundabout, Jacks Hill, Epping New Road, Robin Hood Roundabout, Cross Roads and vice versa.

Elsewhere in Waltham Abbey, more water works are set to close part of Church Road from October 18, this time for five days.

The road is set to be shut from a point approximately 685m south-west of its junction with Mott Street for a distance of approximately 250m in a south-westerly direction.

The diversion will be via Church Road, Lippitts Hill, Mott Street and vice versa.

A two-day closure of Wych Elm, Harlow, is scheduled to begin on October 19 to allow a crane to be dismantled.

The road will be shut from a point approximately 70m north-west of its junction with Fourth Avenue for a distance of approximately 95m in a north-easterly direction.

Furthermore, the one-way will be temporarily suspended from the northernmost junction with Hamstel Road for a distance of approximately 155m in a north-easterly then south-easterly direction.

An alternative route will be available via Wych Elm and vice versa.

A 22-day closure of Houbions Hill/Coopersale Common, Coopersale, is due to start on October 20 to allow for superfast broadband installation.

The road is set to be closed from the junction with Brickfields Road to both junctions with Coopersale Street, a distance of approximately 1020m.

The alternative route will be via Epping Road, The Plain, Thornwood Road, Palmers Hill, Stonards Hill, Coopersale Street, Houbions Hill and vice versa.

Also from October 20, part of Rye Hill Road, North Weald Bassett, is due to be closed to vehicles for two nights due while street lighting is replaced.

The closure is due to apply from 7pm to 5am from the junction with High Road for a distance of approximately 50m in a south-westerly direction.

Motorists should use London Road, Hastingwood Roundabout, A414 between southern town boundary and Harlow Mill Rooundabout, Southern Way, Paringdon Road, Rye Hill Road and vice versa.
