Police investigating a fatal drive-by shooting in south London have arrested a man on suspicion of murder at Heathrow Airport as he attempted to flee the UK with three others.

Chino Johnson, 27, died at the scene on Ferrey Mews, on Brixton's Angell Town estate, after two men riding a moped allegedly opened fire on a group of people socialising at around 9pm on Sunday, September 12.

A 29-year-old woman was rushed to hospital with gunshot wounds, where her condition was assessed as non-life changing.

Another woman, believed to be 26, later self-presented at a south London hospital with superficial injuries.

A 20-year-old man was arrested at Heathrow on suspicion of murder yesterday (September 21).

Three men, aged 20, 22 and 24, were also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the shooting to come forward.

The moped is described as light coloured – either white or silver – with a large black square box mounted on the rear and an L plate hanging down.

It is believed to be either a Yamaha NX or a model that looks similar, and fled in the direction of Bennett Road and Dora Way.

Detective Chief Inspector Richard Leonard, from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command who leads the investigation, said: “Despite four arrests having been made, I am still very keen to hear from anyone who has information relating to Chino’s murder.

“If you know something, no matter how insignificant it may seem, please do the right thing and get in touch with us.

“If you do not wish to speak to police, you can also provide information 100 per cent anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers.”
