A family has paid tribute to their "irreplaceable" daughter after she died following a police chase in Waltham Abbey.

Jessica Ladkin, 31 at the time, died after she failed to stop for police before colliding with two other cars in Parklands on March 28, 2019.

The crash also saw another driver suffer life-changing injuries.

Her parents Terry and Jenny Ladkin said “an immense scar has been forever left on our hearts by her death”, adding the “senseless” crash didn’t need to happen.

“We lost a daughter, Jessica’s siblings lost a sister, and most saddening of all, two precious young children lost a loving and caring mother,” they continued.

“It is impossible to put into words the impact losing Jessica has had on our lives.

“We miss her phone calls many times a day, her generosity, her infectious laugh and her positive attitude.”

They added: “We understand the police have an incredibly difficult job, but we wish things had been dealt with differently that night, and we hope lessons are learned to prevent other families from experiencing the pain and loss we feel.”

After the hearing Oliver Carter, representing Jessica’s parents, said they have concerns about the conduct of the pursuit.

But an investigation by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) concluded police acted appropriately and there was no indication officers had behaved in a way that warranted disciplinary proceedings.

During the probe evidence was gathered from numerous sources including radio communications, dashcam footage and statements.

The inquest on Monday, September 20, returned a finding of death by road traffic collision.
