Charges for parking in an area of Enfield are to be made permanent from the start of next month.

A notice from Enfield Council in this week’s edition of the Enfield Independent has confirmed that the experimental Tramway Avenue N9 controlled parking zone (CPZ) will be made permanent from October 4.

The effect of this will be to:

Introduce a CPZ which will operate Monday to Sunday, 8am to 10pm, by providing residents’ parking places in Tramway Avenue.

Introduce new ‘at any time’ waiting restrictions during the same hours in the CPZ.

Introduce pay and display parking places to operate from 8am to 6.30pm all week on Tramway Avenue and Causeyware Road.

Introduce a goods vehicle loading bay on the south side of Causeyware Road from 8am to 6.30pm, Monday to Sunday.

The cost of the residents’ permit parking permits is determined by engine size. The first permit will cost £55 for 1000cc or less; £110 for 1001cc to 1600cc; £165 for 1601cc to 1999cc; £220 for 2000cc to 2499cc; £275 for 2500cc to 2999cc; £330 for 3000cc or more.

The pay and display parking in Tramway Avenue and Causeyware Road will apply 8am to 6.30pm, Monday to Sunday, and will cost: £0.30 for up to 15 minutes; £0.60 for up to 30 minutes; £1.20 for up to one hour; £2.40 for up to two hours.

Meanwhile, two streets in the Enfield area are set to be closed from Monday for roadworks.

A section of King Edwards Road EN3 is due to shut for 47 days for utility works.

During this time traffic will be prevented from entering and proceeding on the road at its junction with Alexandra Road and its junction with Alma Road.

The diversion will be via Alexandra Road, Durants Road, Alma Road and vice versa.

Hazelbury Lane is also due to be shut for 13 days from Monday at its junction with Hazelbury Road to a point 75 metres east on Hazelbury Lane, again for utility works.

The alternative route for vehicles heading northbound will be via Hazelbury Road, Chalfont Road, Hazelbury Green and vice versa.

In the opposite direction it will be via Hazelbury Road, Park Lane, Hazelbury Green and vice versa.
