A "police incident" has completely closed the Queen Elizabeth II bridge at Dartford Crossing this afternoon.
The incident is causing delays clockwise from J31 A1306 to J1A A206 (Dartford).
A detour is in operation through one of the Dartford Tunnels, according to AA Maps.
Essex Roads Policing team said that traffic is building and that the closure is likely to be for "some time".
Officers are urging people to avoid the area.

The full AA Maps update said: "Bridge closed and delays due to police incident on M25 QE2 Bridge clockwise from J31 A1306 to J1A A206 (Dartford).
"Detour in operation - through one of the Dartford Tunnels.
"All traffic is instead going to run through one of the Dartford Tunnels."
