Drivers across Epping Forest may face some disruption due to temporary closures for roadworks.

A notice from Essex County Council in this week’s edition of the Guardian details the extent of the closures in areas including Chigwell and Harlow.

The dates of all works may vary and will be shown on signs at or near the relevant locations and/or on the one.network website.

A notice for the phased closure of two long sections of road in Chigwell came into effect on August 26.

The order covers:

Abridge Road/High Road, Chigwell – from the junction with Chigwell Rise to the junction with Chigwell Lane, a distance of approximately 1825m.

Vicarage Lane, Chigwell – from its junction with High Road to its junction with Lambourne Road, a distance of approximately 1705m.

In addition to the road closures, a temporary 30mph speed limit will be imposed, as well as temporary no waiting, loading and stopping restrictions on the affected lengths of road.

The diversion during the Abridge Road closure is via Chigwell Rise, Roding Lane, Loughton Way, Valley Hill, Oakwood Hill, Chigwell Lane and vice versa.

For the Vicarage Lane closure, it is via Manor Road, Chigwell Road, High Road and vice versa.

Part of the A414 in Harlow is due to be shut to vehicles for five nights – 9pm to 5am – from September 20 while road patching works are carried out.

The road is due to be closed between southern town boundary and Harlow Mill Roundabout, from its roundabout junction with Southern Way to both of its junctions with Second Avenue, a distance of approximately 771m.

The alternative route will be via Second Avenue, A414 between southern town boundary and Harlow Mill Roundabout, Tillwicks Road, Howard Way, Third Avenue, Katherine’s Way, Southern Way, Abercrombie Way and vice versa.

Before then a section of High Laver Road, High Laver, is due to be shut for one day on September 7 from a point approximately 170m north-east of its junction with Workers Road for a distance of approximately 105m in a north-easterly direction.

The diversion will be via High Laver Road, Matching Road, Matching Tye Road, Harlow Road, Matching Green Road, Moor Hall Road, Sheering Road, Churchgate Street, Hobbs Cross Road, Threshers Bush, Workers Road and vice versa.
